ALIP filesystem

Dear Linaro,

I am looking at using the ALIP filesystem on a Cortex-A8 based RTSM model (Fast Model). My question is whether the base filesystem can be used without the HWPACK? In other words, can I use the "http://releases.linaro.org/platform/linaro-n/alip/11.08/alip-n-tar-20110823-1.tar.gz" as an NFS root filesystem standalone?
