I also tried the images@
http://releases.linaro.org/14.10/android/panda     No difference.

I was using the packaging from here:
https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:fboudra:Linaro  It's
pretty old so I branched and updated linaro-image-tools, python-debian
and pyparted to latest versions.   Switched to using the default
13.1/oss version of u-boot-tools and built qemu-arm-static from the
devel virtualization project.

linaro-android-media-create now reports version 2014.08,  it populated
the sdcard without error but with the same cylinder warnings as before
and it fails to boot as before.

I'm probably doing something wrong.
I don't see anything wrong in the procedure. Can you make sure serial port is working correctly for you ?
