Hi all,

Just explain a bit more on why I think this is important.
  1. We have the experience when asking by the partners for fixing the 48-bit issue for MozJS.
    1. We were under huge pressure and have a very tight schedule to provide work around to partners, fix upstream, backport the patches and fix the Distros.
  2. This bug may cause a lot of application unusable.
    1. wrk will crash
    2. a lot of openresty test will fail (Nginx + LuaJIT)
  3. This issue happen on both interpreter and JIT.
  4. Ubuntu and Fedora already start to use 48-bit VA kernel configuration.
  5. Cavium always uses 48-bit VA kernel configuration no matter which distro they are using.
So if you are also be able to reproduce the problem, would you help to write some comments on the upstream GitHub or public mailing list? So that we may draw more attention on this issue.

Thanks,
Zheng

Hi, all,
I've created a pull request in LuaJIT upstream for fixing lightud for 48 bit VA:
  https://www.freelists.org/post/luajit/fix-lightud-type-for-48bit-virtual-address

Please help take a look if you have time, thanks!

Because this issue introduces changes in generic code base and may also affect other platform with 48 bit virtual address configuration, I feel discuss it in upstream may be more appropriate.
