That's news to me -- they managed to hide it well. ;)

Just root your device / emulator, "pm create-user" "am switch-user" and you got yourself separate profiles.

So all that's missing is a UI for it? Definitely interesting for and Android based desktop replacement or even Android server.

How does it handle permissions, given Android creates users per application?
