Do I need to flash the new uboot as specified by these instructions:
http://www.igloocommunity.org/support/Flashing_howto
If so the instructions have at 2 holes that I've found:
It says,
Due to differences in default U-Boot environment, these instructions will not work if you have flashed the Igloo Community Android Gingerbread releases, please flash the latest Ubuntu image to get a compatible U-Boot.
What if I've got some random Snowball? Shouldn't we list a particular uboot version to look for?
Also, the instructions have me go here:
http://www.igloocommunity.org/support/Index.php/Downloads
Which doesn't list an Ubuntu build.
can we make these better?

You definitely need to upgrade your uboot.

The GB release is STE specific and as such has its own way of packaging and working.
What if I've got some random Snowball? Shouldn't we list a particular uboot version to look for?
All snowball have been shipped with a very old snapshot of uboot and guaranteed to fail with the new lamc/lmc. It is mandatory to upgrade.
Also, the instructions have me go here:
http://www.igloocommunity.org/support/Index.php/Downloads
Which doesn't list an Ubuntu build.
All our builds are listed under "Linux BSP releases page."
can we make these better?

Okay. Would you mind running through the instructions and generating a better, more conscience set, maybe with all the commands laid out? I'll then run through what you've done to verify.

Steps to upgrade ICS on emmc are here:
http://igloocommunity.org/support/Android_Getting_started_with_ICS#Boot_ICS_...
Using the 12.05 ubuntu release, the command to generate a Ubuntu riff'able image can be found at the bottom of this page:
http://igloocommunity.org/support/BSP_Quick_Start
I have used both methods successfully with the 12.05 release.
can we make these better?

Okay, here's what I'm still unclear on. When users boot up their unit how do they know that they need to upgrade. And on both pages:
http://igloocommunity.org/support/Android_Getting_started_with_ICS#Boot_ICS_...
and
http://igloocommunity.org/support/BSP_Quick_Start
Which steps should people follow exactly?
can we make these better?
