Hi folks,
The nice people at Google have given us *3* slots for student projects this summer. Based on past experience and guidance this year, they've been very generous to us. Let's do our best to not let them down!
Cheers,
Great!
so what is the next procedure? Should we arrange HO meeting to choose projects?
Thank you, Maxim.

With 3 slots and 3 clear top project proposals in Melange, I'm tempted to say that we don't need to. (Other) mentors: what do you think?

*tumbleweed*
I guess that means you're all happy, then... :-)
Cheers,
Hi folks,
So, we have 3 slots. I have marked our favourite 3 student projects as "Accepted" in Melange, and assigned (primary) mentors appropriately. Other mentors and admins will be able to see that now if they check. Assuming no surprises, Google will be confirming our choices on Monday 21st - see [1] for the timeline.
At this stage, there *are* some orgs with clashes - students with proposals accepted by one or more organisations. The Google admins are pushing orgs to resolve those right now, and there will be an IRC meeting tomorrow at 19:00 UTC (Friday 18th) to deal with any final slot moves and reassignments. I don't expect there to be any hassle for us and our choices, but we're required to have somebody represent us in that meeting regardless. There could be cascading changes after all. I'm going to be in that meeting for us to make sure. It's also possible that we could yet pick up another slot if there are any spares going - let's see.
Have a good weekend, folks!

The meeting was incredibly quick and well-organised. Carol and the other folks at Google have had plenty of practice at this! No changes for us - we have 3 slots and no clashes.
Cheers,
