That looks old and un-maintained. Is anyone using that or can they be removed (at least in master).
Yes, please! Since python2 was just dropped from oe-core/master, those old recipes now break parsing, as they try inheriting non-existent classes.
FWIW, I discussed those old recipes with Koen over a year ago and those recipes are from the times when Linaro used to patch glibc and binutils as part of Linaro toolchain releases. That hasn't happened for several years now, so should be safe to remove and use upstream versions from oe-core.
