Hi,
Now that gcc8 is being released by ARM, what is the future of external Linaro toolchain recipes and support in meta-linaro?

Linaro toolchain recipes and support in meta-linaro is going to be frozen and GCC 7.2 will be the last one available. As you know, starting from GCC 8, Arm is releasing a GCC based toolchain. We still need to discuss internally if there's members interest to switch to Arm's GCC releases instead of Linaro's toolchain (discontinued).

Do we have a good understanding of the difference between "downstream" GCC from Linaro (and soon from ARM) and upstream that OE uses/supports?
meta-rpb is using linaro-gcc by default today.. so we definitely need an answer here.
