[PATCH v1] usb: typec: tcpci: Prevent Sink disconnection before vPpsShutdown in SPR PPS

The Source can drop its output voltage to the minimum of the requested PPS APDO voltage range when it is in Current Limit Mode. If this voltage falls within the range of vPpsShutdown, the Source initiates a Hard Reset and discharges Vbus. However, currently the Sink may disconnect before the voltage reaches vPpsShutdown, leading to unexpected behavior. Prevent premature disconnection by setting the Sink's disconnect threshold to the minimum vPpsShutdown value. Additionally, consider the voltage drop due to IR drop when calculating the appropriate threshold. This ensures a robust and reliable interaction between the Source and Sink during SPR PPS Current Limit Mode operation. [REGRESSION] Distorted sound on Acer Aspire A115-31 laptop

I am using an Acer Aspire A115-31 laptop. When running newer kernel versions, sound played through headphones is distorted, but when running older versions, it is not. Kernel version: Linux version 6.12.5 (user@hostname) (gcc (Debian 14.2.0-8) 14.2.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.43.50.20241210) #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sun Dec 15 05:09:16 IST 2024 Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux trixie/sid No special actions are needed to reproduce the issue. The sound is distorted all the time, and it doesn't depend on anything besides using an affected kernel version. It seems to be caused by commit 34ab5bbc6e82214d7f7393eba26d164b303ebb4e (ALSA: hda/realtek - Add Headset Mic supported Acer NB platform). On our board, the 002:00:07.0 bridge is misconfigured by the bootloader. Both its secondary and subordinate bus numbers are initialized to 0, while its fixed secondary bus number is set to 8. However, bus number 8 is also assigned to another bridge (0002:00:0f.0). Although this is a bootloader issue, before the change in commit 7246a4520b4b, the PCI_REASSIGN_ALL_BUS flag was set by default when PCI_PROBE_ONLY was enabled, ensuing that all the bus number for these bridges were reassigned, avoiding any conflicts. After the change introduced in commit 7246a4520b4b, the bus numbers assigned by the bootloader are reused by all other bridges, except the misconfigured 002:00:07.0 bridge. The kernel attempt to reconfigure 002:00:07.0 by reusing the fixed secondary bus number 8 assigned by bootloader. However, since a pci_bus has already been allocated for bus 8 due to the probe of 0002:00:0f.0, no new pci_bus allocated for 002:00:07.0. This results in a pci bridge device without a pci_bus attached (pdev->subordinate == NULL). Consequently, accessing pdev->subordinate in of_pci_prop_bus_range() leads to a NULL pointer dereference. To summarize, we need to restore the PCI_REASSIGN_ALL_BUS flag when PCI_PROBE_ONLY is enabled in order to work around issue like the one described above. [PATCH v2 1/2] tracing: gfp: Fix the GFP enum values shown for user space tracing tools

This causes them to be replaced at boot up with the numbers, so that user space tooling can parse it. [PATCH v3] wifi: brcmfmac: fix NULL pointer dereference in brcmf_txfinalize()

On removal of the device or unloading of the kernel module a potential NULL pointer dereference occurs. The following sequence deletes the interface: brcmf_detach() brcmf_remove_interface() brcmf_del_if() Inside the brcmf_del_if() function the drvr->if2bss[ifidx] is updated to BRCMF_BSSIDX_INVALID (-1) if the bsscfgidx matches. After brcmf_remove_interface() call the brcmf_proto_detach() function is called providing the following sequence: brcmf_detach() brcmf_proto_detach() brcmf_proto_msgbuf_detach() brcmf_flowring_detach() brcmf_msgbuf_delete_flowring() brcmf_msgbuf_remove_flowring() brcmf_flowring_delete() brcmf_get_ifp() brcmf_txfinalize() Since brcmf_get_ip() can and actually will return NULL in this case the call to brcmf_txfinalize() will result in a NULL pointer dereference inside brcmf_txfinalize() when trying to update ifp->ndev->stats.tx_errors. This will only happen if a flowring still has an skb. Although the NULL pointer dereference has only been seen when trying to update the tx statistic, all other uses of the ifp pointer have been guarded as well with an early return if ifp is NULL. [PATCH 5.10/5.15] md/raid5: fix atomicity violation in raid5_cache_count

Due to intermediate value updates in raid5_set_cache_size(), concurrent execution of raid5_cache_count() and raid5_set_cache_size() may lead to inconsistent reads of conf->max_nr_stripes and conf->min_nr_stripes. The current checks are ineffective as values could change immediately after being checked, raising the risk of conf->min_nr_stripes exceeding conf->max_nr_stripes and potentially causing an integer overflow. This possible bug is found by an experimental static analysis tool developed by our team. This tool analyzes the locking APIs to extract function pairs that can be concurrently executed, and then analyzes the instructions in the paired functions to identify possible concurrency bugs including data races and atomicity violations. The above possible bug is reported when our tool analyzes the source code of Linux 6.2. To resolve this issue, it is suggested to introduce local variables 'min_stripes' and 'max_stripes' in raid5_cache_count() to ensure the values remain stable throughout the check. Adding locks in raid5_cache_count() fails to resolve atomicity violations, as raid5_set_cache_size() may hold intermediate values of conf->min_nr_stripes while unlocked. With this patch applied, our tool no longer reports the bug, with the kernel configuration allyesconfig for x86_64. Due to the lack of associated hardware, we cannot test the patch in runtime testing, and just verify it according to the code logic. [PATCH 5/5] serial: sh-sci: Increment the runtime usage counter for the earlycon device

The uart_add_one_port() function eventually calls __device_attach(), which, in turn, calls pm_request_idle(). The identified code path is as follows: uart_add_one_port() -> serial_ctrl_register_port() -> serial_core_register_port() -> serial_core_port_device_add() -> serial_base_port_add() -> device_add() -> bus_probe_device() -> device_initial_probe() -> __device_attach() -> // ... if (dev->p->dead) { // ... } else if (dev->driver) { // ... } else { // ... pm_request_idle(dev); // ... } The earlycon device clocks are enabled by the bootloader. However, the pm_request_idle() call in __device_attach() disables the SCI port clocks while earlycon is still active. The earlycon write function, serial_console_write(), calls sci_poll_put_char() via serial_console_putchar(). If the SCI port clocks are disabled, writing to earlycon may sometimes cause the SR.TDFE bit to remain unset indefinitely, causing the while loop in sci_poll_put_char() to never exit. On single-core SoCs, this can result in the system being blocked during boot when this issue occurs. To resolve this, increment the runtime PM usage counter for the earlycon SCI device before registering the UART port.
