[PATCH] comedi: Fix initialization of data for instructions that write to subdevice

Some Comedi subdevice instruction handlers are known to access instruction data elements beyond the first `insn->n` elements in some cases. The `do_insn_ioctl()` and `do_insnlist_ioctl()` functions allocate at least `MIN_SAMPLES` (16) data elements to deal with this, but they do not initialize all of that. For Comedi instruction codes that write to the subdevice, the first `insn->n` data elements are copied from user-space, but the remaining elements are left uninitialized. That could be a problem if the subdevice instruction handler reads the uninitialized data. Ensure that the first `MIN_SAMPLES` elements are initialized before calling these instruction handlers, filling the uncopied elements with 0. For `do_insnlist_ioctl()`, the same data buffer elements are used for handling a list of instructions, so ensure the first `MIN_SAMPLES` elements are initialized for each instruction that writes to the subdevice. [PATCH] comedi: Fix use of uninitialized data in insn_rw_emulate_bits()

For Comedi `INSN_READ` and `INSN_WRITE` instructions on "digital" subdevices (subdevice types `COMEDI_SUBD_DI`, `COMEDI_SUBD_DO`, and `COMEDI_SUBD_DIO`), it is common for the subdevice driver not to have `insn_read` and `insn_write` handler functions, but to have an `insn_bits` handler function for handling Comedi `INSN_BITS` instructions. In that case, the subdevice's `insn_read` and/or `insn_write` function handler pointers are set to point to the `insn_rw_emulate_bits()` function by `__comedi_device_postconfig()`. For `INSN_WRITE`, `insn_rw_emulate_bits()` currently assumes that the supplied `data[0]` value is a valid copy from user memory. It will at least exist because `do_insnlist_ioctl()` and `do_insn_ioctl()` in "comedi_fops.c" ensure at lease `MIN_SAMPLES` (16) elements are allocated. However, if `insn->n` is 0 (which is allowable for `INSN_READ` and `INSN_WRITE` instructions, then `data[0]` may contain uninitialized data, and certainly contains invalid data, possibly from a different instruction in the array of instructions handled by `do_insnlist_ioctl()`. This will result in an incorrect value being written to the digital output channel (or to the digital input/output channel if configured as an output), and may be reflected in the internal saved state of the channel. Fix it by returning 0 early if `insn->n` is 0, before reaching the code that accesses `data[0]`. Previously, the function always returned 1 on success, but it is supposed to be the number of data samples actually read or written up to `insn->n`, which is 0 in this case. [PATCH net] net: phy: realtek: Reset after clock enable

On Radxa ROCK 4D boards we are seeing some issues with PHY detection and stability (e.g. link loss, or not capable of transceiving packages) after new board revisions switched from a dedicated crystal to providing the 25 MHz PHY input clock from the SoC instead. This board is using a RTL8211F PHY, which is connected to an always-on regulator. Unfortunately the datasheet does not explicitly mention the power-up sequence regarding the clock, but it seems to assume that the clock is always-on (i.e. dedicated crystal). By doing an explicit reset after enabling the clock, the issue on the boards could no longer be observed. This happens before the VMA lock and rmap locks are taken - which is too early, it allows racing VMA-locked page faults in our process and racing rmap walks from other processes to cause page tables to be shared again before we actually perform the split. Fix it by explicitly calling into the hugetlb unshare logic from __split_vma() in the same place where THP splitting also happens. At that point, both the VMA and the rmap(s) are write-locked. An annoying detail is that we can now call into the helper hugetlb_unshare_pmds() from two different locking contexts: 1. from hugetlb_split(), holding: - mmap lock (exclusively) - VMA lock - file rmap lock (exclusively) 2. hugetlb_unshare_all_pmds(), which I think is designed to be able to call us with only the mmap lock held (in shared mode), but currently only runs while holding mmap lock (exclusively) and VMA lock Backporting note: This commit fixes a racy protection that was introduced in commit b30c14cd6102 ("hugetlb: unshare some PMDs when splitting VMAs"); that commit claimed to fix an issue introduced in 5.13, but it should actually also go all the way back. [PATCH] comedi: Fix some signed shift left operations

Correct some left shifts of the signed integer constant 1 by some unsigned number less than 32. Change the constant to 1U to avoid shifting a 1 into the sign bit. [PATCH v2] drm/framebuffer: Acquire internal references on GEM handles

Acquire GEM handles in drm_framebuffer_init() and release them in the corresponding drm_framebuffer_cleanup(). Ties the handle's lifetime to the framebuffer. Not all GEM buffer objects have GEM handles. If not set, no refcounting takes place. This is the case for some fbdev emulation. This is not a problem as these GEM objects do not use dma-bufs and drivers will not release them while fbdev emulation is running. Framebuffer flags keep a bit per color plane of which the framebuffer holds a GEM handle reference. As all drivers use drm_framebuffer_init(), they will now all hold dma-buf references as fixed in commit 5307dce878d4 ("drm/gem: Acquire references on GEM handles for framebuffers"). In the GEM framebuffer helpers, restore the original ref counting on buffer objects. [PATCH v1 mm-hotfixes] mm/zsmalloc: do not pass __GFP_MOVABLE if CONFIG_COMPACTION=n

Commit 48b4800a1c6a ("zsmalloc: page migration support") added support for migrating zsmalloc pages using the movable_operations migration framework. However, the commit did not take into account that zsmalloc supports migration only when CONFIG_COMPACTION is enabled. Tracing shows that zsmalloc was still passing the __GFP_MOVABLE flag even when compaction is not supported. This can result in unmovable pages being allocated from movable page blocks (even without stealing page blocks), ZONE_MOVABLE and CMA area. Clear the __GFP_MOVABLE flag when !IS_ENABLED(CONFIG_COMPACTION). [PATCH] crypto: s390/sha - Fix uninitialized variable in SHA-1 and SHA-2

Commit 88c02b3f79a6 ("s390/sha3: Support sha3 performance enhancements") added the field s390_sha_ctx::first_message_part and made it be used by s390_sha_update_blocks(). At the time, s390_sha_update_blocks() was used by all the s390 SHA-1, SHA-2, and SHA-3 algorithms. However, only the initialization functions for SHA-3 were updated, leaving SHA-1 and SHA-2 using first_message_part uninitialized. This could cause e.g. CPACF_KIMD_SHA_512 | CPACF_KIMD_NIP to be used instead of just CPACF_KIMD_NIP. It's unclear why this didn't cause a problem earlier; this bug was found only when UBSAN detected the uninitialized boolean. Perhaps the CPU ignores CPACF_KIMD_NIP for SHA-1 and SHA-2. Regardless, let's fix this. For now just initialize to false, i.e. don't try to "optimize" the SHA state initialization. Note: in 6.16, we need to patch SHA-1, SHA-384, and SHA-512. In 6.15 and earlier, we'll also need to patch SHA-224 and SHA-256, as they hadn't yet been librarified (which incidentally fixed this bug). Restore the SIMD usability check and base conversion that were removed by commit 318c53ae02f2 ("crypto: x86/poly1305 - Add block-only interface"). This safety check is cheap and is well worth eliminating a footgun. While the Poly1305 functions *should* be called only where SIMD registers are usable, if they are anyway, they should just do the right thing instead of corrupting random tasks' registers and/or computing incorrect MACs. Fixing this is also needed for poly1305_kunit to pass. Just use irq_fpu_usable() instead of the original crypto_simd_usable(), since poly1305_kunit won't rely on crypto_simd_disabled_for_test. [REGRESSION] - Multiple userspace implementations of battery estimate broken after "ACPI: battery: negate current when discharging"

Hello, I installed kernel 6.15.4 to find that my battery estimate on my handheld gaming device was completely inaccurate, instead giving negative values and an unknown estimated battery life in multiple places. After bisecting, I landed on "ACPI: battery: negate current when discharging” as the bad commit. This commit breaks not one but several userspace implementations of battery monitoring: Steam and MangoHud. Perhaps it breaks more, but those are the two I have noticed so far.
