[PATCH v4 1/3] x86/mm: disable ioremap free page handling on x86-PAE

ioremap() supports pmd mappings on x86-PAE. However, kernel's pmd tables are not shared among processes on x86-PAE. Therefore, any update to sync'd pmd entries need re-syncing. Freeing a pte page also leads to a vmalloc fault and hits the BUG_ON in vmalloc_sync_one(). Disable free page handling on x86-PAE. pud_free_pmd_page() and pmd_free_pte_page() simply return 0 if a given pud/pmd entry is present. This assures that ioremap() does not update sync'd pmd entries at the cost of falling back to pte mappings. [PATCH v3] block: don't use blocking queue entered for recursive bio submits

This will never happen, since we already hold a reference. Mark a split bio as already having entered the queue, so we can just use the live non-blocking queue enter variant. Thanks to Tetsuo Handa for the analysis. We're running fio tests and the tasks get stuck in a D state forever when systemd-udevd tries to read the partition table. This patch solves it. [PATCH] ubifs: log: Don't leak kernel memory to the MTD

ubifs_log_start_commit() allocates a buffer with kmalloc(), this buffer is used to build UBIFS CS and REF nodes, all structure attributes get set, except for the padding field in the ubifs_ref_node. That way we leak 28 bytes of kernel memory to the MTD. Fix it by using kzalloc(). For example booting with 3844 1G pages requires prepping (set_compound_head, init the count) over 1 billion 4K tail pages, which takes considerable time. Add a cond_resched() to the outer loop in gather_bootmem_prealloc() to prevent this lockup. Tested: Booted with softlockup_panic=1 hugepagesz=1G hugepages=3844 and no softlockup is reported, and the hugepages are reported as successfully setup. [PATCH v3] stop_machine: Disable preemption when waking two stopper threads

When cpu_stop_queue_two_works() begins to wake the stopper threads, it does so without preemption disabled, which leads to the following race condition: The source CPU calls cpu_stop_queue_two_works(), with cpu1 as the source CPU, and cpu2 as the destination CPU. When adding the stopper threads to the wake queue used in this function, the source CPU stopper thread is added first, and the destination CPU stopper thread is added last. When wake_up_q() is invoked to wake the stopper threads, the threads are woken up in the order that they are queued in, so the source CPU's stopper thread is woken up first, and it preempts the thread running on the source CPU. The stopper thread will then execute on the source CPU, disable preemption, and begin executing multi_cpu_stop(), and wait for an ack from the destination CPU's stopper thread, with preemption still disabled. Since the worker thread that woke up the stopper thread on the source CPU is affine to the source CPU, and preemption is disabled on the source CPU, that thread will never run to dequeue the destination CPU's stopper thread from the wake queue, and thus, the destination CPU's stopper thread will never run, causing the source CPU's stopper thread to wait forever, and stall. [PATCH] block: don't use blocking queue entered for recursive bio submits

If we end up splitting a bio and the queue goes away between the initial submission and the later split submission, then we can block forever in blk_queue_enter() waiting for the reference to drop to zero. This will never happen, since we already hold a reference. Mark a split bio as already having entered the queue, so we can just use the live non-blocking queue enter variant. Thanks to Tetsuo Handa for the analysis. We're running fio tests and the tasks get stuck in a D state forever when systemd-udevd tries to read the partition table. This patch solves it. [PATCH] drm/nouveau: Set DRIVER_ATOMIC cap earlier to fix debugfs

Currently nouveau doesn't actually expose the state debugfs file that's usually provided for any modesetting driver that supports atomic, even if nouveau is loaded with atomic=1. This is due to the fact that the standard debugfs files that DRM creates for atomic drivers is called when drm_get_pci_dev() is called from nouveau_drm.c. This happens well before we've initialized the display core, which is currently responsible for setting the DRIVER_ATOMIC cap. So, move the atomic option into nouveau_drm.c and just add the DRIVER_ATOMIC cap whenever it's enabled on the kernel commandline. This shouldn't cause any actual issues, as the atomic ioctl will still fail as expected even if the display core doesn't disable it until later in the init sequence. This also provides the added benefit of being able to use the state debugfs file to check the current display state even if clients aren't allowed to modify it through anything other than the legacy ioctls. Additionally, disable the DRIVER_ATOMIC cap in nv04's display core, as this was already disabled there previously.
