If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let stable@vger.kernel.org know about it.
Please don't add this patch to any stable tree, since it requires all drivers to have a proper OF device ID table. This is true in mainline, but it may not be true in older stable kernels.
Thanks for letting me know, now dropped from 4.14 and 4.16 stable queues.
