This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled
USB: cdc-wdm: fix race between write and disconnect due to flag abuse
to my usb git tree which can be found at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/usb.git in the usb-linus branch.
The patch will show up in the next release of the linux-next tree (usually sometime within the next 24 hours during the week.)
The patch will hopefully also be merged in Linus's tree for the next -rc kernel release.
If you have any questions about this process, please let me know.

In case of a disconnect an ongoing flush() has to be made fail. Nevertheless we cannot be sure that any pending URB has already finished, so although they will never succeed, they still must not be touched. The clean solution for this is to check for WDM_IN_USE and WDM_DISCONNECTED in flush(). There is no point in ever clearing WDM_IN_USE, as no further writes make sense.
The issue is as old as the driver.
