Have seen a similar report. Does mainline without topic-pci and acpi=force boot?
I have no access to a Mustang for debugging!

Hi Graeme,
No it (4.5.0-rc1) doesn't. It stalls right after emitting a message:
ASID allocator initialised with 65536 entries
The Mustang I am using has the latest, official Tianocore provided by APM.

Hi, Has anyone successfully brought up the topic-pci branch kernel with acpi=force on Mustang? The boot is stalled in the middle of it.
Have seen a similar report. Does mainline without topic-pci and acpi=force boot?
I have no access to a Mustang for debugging!

Hi Graeme,
No it (4.5.0-rc1) doesn't. It stalls right after emitting a message:

The Mustang I am using has the latest, official Tianocore provided by APM.
Must be similar to what I got at https://bugs.linaro.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1999 (with a 4.4 kernel).
There are still some changes required for Mustang (for ACPI), and you can find some related patches at https://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/kernel-arm64.git/log/?h=devel (not for upstream though).
Cheers,
Thank you Ricardo for jumping in. FWIW, here's the Mustang F/W I am using in the Linaro Server Lab.

Tested with the same firmware now, and had the same issue, but we're in sync at least now.
As a test, I added the fedora specific patches at https://github.com/rsalveti/linux/commits/topic-apm (on top of the 96boards reference kernel, which is based on the leg/acpi kernel), and it worked fine (tested on a 4.4 based kernel).
I know the CentOS kernel also got some extra patches (including a mailbox driver, https://git.centos.org/tree/sig-altarch%21kernel.git/9933f223293366d995fb475...), so you might want to check that as well.
Cheers,
Hi Ricardo, I've seen that the topic-apm boots fine with acpi=force. Thanks.
Graeme, I assume you can not take those do-not-upstream patches even if that is needed for Mustang, correct?
Itaru

Hi Itaru,
Now ACPI core is upstream I do not plan to carry any hardware enablement patches.

Thanks, the one I'm using is a bit older, let me find out how to get this to use the latest firmware.
I know the CentOS kernel also got some extra patches (including a mailbox driver,
https://git.centos.org/tree/sig-altarch%21kernel.git/9933f223293366d995fb475...), so you might want to check that as well.
Cheers,
Hi Graeme, Makes sense to me. I'll wait for the APM's FW update.

Hi Ricardo, I've seen that the topic-apm boots fine with acpi=force. Thanks.
Graeme, I assume you can not take those do-not-upstream patches even if that is needed for Mustang, correct?
Hi Itaru,
Now ACPI core is upstream I do not plan to carry any hardware enablement patches.

Hi Itaru,
So it does not seem to be an issue with PCI support luckilly.
Maybe Al Stone can help here if there is a missing upstream patch/patches for Mustang as I beleive RHEL/Fedora support it.
