[PATCH v3 0/6] Memory corruption may occur due to incorrent tlb flush

The TLB flush optimisation (a46cc7a90f: powerpc/mm/radix: Improve TLB/PWC flushes) may result in random memory corruption. Any concurrent page-table walk could end up with a Use-after-Free. Even on UP this might give issues, since mmu_gather is preemptible these days. An interrupt or preempted task accessing user pages might stumble into the free page if the hardware caches page directories. The series is a backport of the fix sent by Peter [1]. The first three patches are dependencies for the last patch (avoid potential double flush). If the performance impact due to double flush is considered trivial then the first three patches and last patch may be dropped. This is only for v4.19 stable. [PATCH 2/3] scsi: megaraid_sas: check user-provided offsets

It sounds unwise to let user space pass an unchecked 32-bit offset into a kernel structure in an ioctl. This is an unsigned variable, so checking the upper bound for the size of the structure it points into is sufficient to avoid data corruption, but as the pointer might also be unaligned, it has to be written carefully as well. While I stumbled over this problem by reading the code, I did not continue checking the function for further problems like it. [PATCH 4.19 1/7] mm: drop meminit_pfn_in_nid as it is redundant

As best as I can tell the meminit_pfn_in_nid call is completely redundant. The deferred memory initialization is already making use of for_each_free_mem_range which in turn will call into __next_mem_range which will only return a memory range if it matches the node ID provided assuming it is not NUMA_NO_NODE. I am operating on the assumption that there are no zones or pgdata_t structures that have a NUMA node of NUMA_NO_NODE associated with them. If that is the case then __next_mem_range will never return a memory range that doesn't match the zone's node ID and as such the check is redundant. So one piece I would like to verify on this is if this works for ia64. Technically it was using a different approach to get the node ID, but it seems to have the node ID also encoded into the memblock. So I am assuming this is okay, but would like to get confirmation on that. On my x86_64 test system with 384GB of memory per node I saw a reduction in initialization time from 2.80s to 1.85s as a result of this patch. So we check device->alloc_state by finding the first range which doesn't have CHUNK_TRIMMED and CHUNK_ALLOCATED not set. But if we shrunk the device, that bits are not cleared, thus we could easily got a range starts beyond the shrunk device size. This results the returned @start and @end are all beyond device size, then we call "end = min(end, device->total_bytes -1);" making @end smaller than device size. Then finally we goes "len = end - start + 1", totally underflow the result, and lead to the beyond-device-boundary access. [FIX] This patch will fix the problem in two ways: - Clear CHUNK_TRIMMED | CHUNK_ALLOCATED bits when shrinking device This is the root fix - Add extra safety check when trimming free device extents We check and warn if the returned range is already beyond current device. These reference counting issues take place in two exception handling paths separately. Either when “slots” is less than 0 or when drm_dp_init_vcpi() returns a negative value, the function forgets to reduce the refcnt increased drm_dp_mst_topology_get_port_validated(), which results in a refcount leak. Fix these issues by pulling up the error handling when "slots" is less than 0, and calling drm_dp_mst_topology_put_port() before termination when drm_dp_init_vcpi() returns a negative value.
