[PATCH v2] treewide, serdev: change receive_buf() return type to size_t

From: Francesco Dolcini <francesco.dolcini(a)toradex.com> receive_buf() is called from ttyport_receive_buf() that expects values ">= 0" from serdev_controller_receive_buf(), change its return type from ssize_t to size_t. The need for this clean-up was noticed while fixing a warning, see commit 94d053942544 ("Bluetooth: btnxpuart: fix recv_buf() return value"). Changing the callback prototype to return an unsigned seems the best way to document the API and ensure that is properly used. GNSS drivers implementation of serdev receive_buf() callback return directly the return value of gnss_insert_raw(). gnss_insert_raw() returns a signed int, however this is not an issue since the value returned is always positive, because of the kfifo_in() implementation. gnss_insert_raw() could be changed to return also an unsigned, however this is not implemented here as request by the GNSS maintainer Johan Hovold. [PATCH v2] staging: greybus: Remove usage of the deprecated ida_simple_xx() API

ida_alloc() and ida_free() should be preferred to the deprecated ida_simple_get() and ida_simple_remove(). Note that the upper limit of ida_simple_get() is exclusive, but the one of ida_alloc_range()/ida_alloc_max() is inclusive. So a -1 has been added when needed. [PATCH v5 000/111] pwm: Improve lifetime tracking for pwm_chips

Hello, this is v5 of this series. The relevant changes since v4 (https://lore.kernel.org/linux-pwm/cover.1701860672.git.u.kleine-koenig@peng…): - New first patch to reshuffle functions in core.c. This is a preparation for the later changes which brings functions in a better order to not need declarations. - Fix kernel docs in several drivers - Added a few ack and review tags received for v4 - non-trivially rebased to current pwm/for-next (the changes to drivers/gpu/drm/bridge/ti-sn65dsi86.c were intrusive enough to not add the ack tag by Robert Foss I got). Handling got a bit more complicated with the recent addition of pwm_apply_atomic/pwm_apply_might_sleep the locking got more complicated. I didn't work out all the necessary details. So this series won't work as is. However as there is probably some more coordination needed to get the patches in that touch files outside of drivers/pwm and I'm confident they can stay as is, I want to get the biggest part of this series in (up to patch #106) during the next merge window and get them into next soon. After that I can spend the time necessary to fix the locking maybe to get the remaining bits in during the following merge window. There are patches touching drivers/gpu/drm/bridge/ti-sn65dsi86.c (#37 and #104), drivers/staging/greybus/pwm.c (#38 and #106), drivers/gpio/gpio-mvebu.c (#103) and drivers/leds/rgb/leds-qcom-lpg.c (#105). These depend on earlier patches in this series (#3, #39 and #40) The patches touching staging/greybus and leds-qcom-lpg already have a maintainer ack, so I'd merge them via my tree. For the other two it would be nice to get an ack to merge via my tree, too. But if you want to merge via your own tree, please tell, so we can coordinate accordingly. [PATCH] greybus: Remove usage of the deprecated ida_simple_xx() API

[PATCH 2/2] leds: make flash and multicolor dependencies unconditional

[PATCH 00/33] spi: get rid of some legacy macros

Hello, In commit 8caab75fd2c2 ("spi: Generalize SPI "master" to "controller"") some functions were renamed. Further some compat defines were introduced to map the old names to the new ones. In this series all drivers still using the old names are changed to use the new ones and then in patch #32 the compat defines are dropped. Variables and struct members of type pointer to struct spi_controller that were named "master" (matching the old name of spi_controller) were renamed to "ctlr", which slightly increased the count of touched lines, but is nice for consistency. Patch #18 and #19 touch the same driver, otherwise the patches #1 - #31 are pairwise independent and could be applied by their respective maintainers. The alternative is to let all patches go via the spi tree. Mark, what's your preference here? Patch #33 updates the documentation. (This one is a bit fuzzy, because it also does some s/master/host/ which doesn't match the remainder of the series). Also patch #18 is an improvement I noticed while touching this driver that doesn't match the series' topic. I still kept it included here. If you should not like it, it can just be dropped.
