Hi folks,
I tried to create a job to boot Debian on hikey. I'm using the reference platform images to start with, and LAVA failed to flash the rootfs. I tried using a longer timeout to see if it made a difference (it didn't).
https://pmwg.validation.linaro.org/scheduler/job/1274#L187 https://pmwg.validation.linaro.org/scheduler/job/1274/definition
The V2 sample jobs I've seen for hikey use Android, so I don't know if anyone has tried Debian yet.
Any ideas?
Regards, Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Which release is your instance running? IIRC there is a problem with 2017.2 and flashing HiKey. There should be a reboot after flashing ptable but LAVA doesn't do that. The problem is fixed on 2017.4 which will be out in couple of days.

Mine is running 2017.2. Good to know that there's a fix in 2017.4, so I'll wait for it.

I ran my job again after the PMWG instance got upgraded to 2017.4, and the rootfs can't be flashed: https://pmwg.validation.linaro.org/scheduler/job/1314#L227
I'm open to suggestions. I can also create a ticket if that's helpful.

We've already got this in hand. There'll be a hotfix for Debian and OE support on HiKey. Current support is for AOSP.

Hi,
Following up on an old thread. I assume the hotfix is already out by now, so I tried to boot Debian on HiKey again. I'm still running into the issue where the rootfs does not get flashed[1]. I added the pre-power and pre-os commands in my job definition[2], and those didn't work either.
If anyone has other ideas, let me know.

This is a problem with the device configuration of pmwg hikey, ie., it misses the fastboot_options parameter. This is important when the image that is transferred via fastboot is huge as in this case (2.0G). The fastboot option will instruct to send the system image in 256 MB chunks.
The problem should be solved with https://review.linaro.org/#/c/20795/ - I shall ask lab to put this in place for the pmwg instance.
Thank You.
