Hi,
According to the schedule [1], the Beta release [2] is due in two days. The release team have selected
a beta candidate and would like your helping in testing the images to ensure that they are of Beta
quality. If you have the hardware available, currently OMAP Beagleboard and ARM Versatile Express
(ca9x4_ct_vxp) then you could help. The steps involved in testing are:
1) Download the correct image for your board, OMAP [3] or Versatile Express [4].
2) Install the image on your device (instructions can be found on the Beta release page [2]).
3) Log in or create an account at http://qatracker.linaro.org.
4) Test according to the test cases for your board by following the instructions on qatracker.
5) Submit your results to qatracker, file bugs, come joins us on the irc channel [5] to ask questions.
Hopefully with your help, we can make the Beta release rock.
Regards,
Jamie.

Hi,
Beta Freeze [1] is now in effect. All uploads to the main archive must be approved by a member of the
release team so if changes are needed, please get them in as soon as possible. Uploads to other
archives do not need to be acknowledged by the release team and can continue to be pushed, with
an eye to quality and bug fixing, as normal. Once the Beta milestone [2] has been reached Feature
Freeze [3] comes back into effect.
We are now less than one week away from Beta Release. Please take the time between now and
then to test the images as much as possible to ensure that this release is as polished and stable as
possible. A Beta release candidate image will be selected soon following the documented steps [4]
and the release will be made next Thursday.
Regards,
Jamie.

Hi,
According to the schedule [1] the Linaro Feature Freeze will be in effect from 2010-08-12, i.e. Thursday. This signals our transition from adding new features to bug fixing and improving what is already there. Exceptions to this process will have to be approved by the release management team [2] using the Feature Freeze exception process [3]. After this date your new features are not guaranteed to be in the next release so please try to get your enhancements in as soon as possible. For an explanation of the Feature Freeze process please see the wiki [4].
Regards,
Jamie.

Hi,
Hot on the heals of Ubuntu's main archive frozen announcement [1] this email is to inform you that Linaro development is under the same restriction. We are in the process of testing the daily images which will in turn become the Alpha-3 release on Thursday.
Please read the Ubuntu announcement for more information on the restrictions.
Regards,
Jamie.
