This is interesting news! What exactly are we cleaning up here?
Eric, have you been keeping an eye on the work happening here? I want to make sure that we're not making your life harder (and conversely, that you're not going down a different route in your forward-porting work).

John S, can you give more details or at least pointers to your talk, so we can see if this can be useful for our kernel packaging maintenance in some sort?

Its more of a BOF, so I'll try to summarize the talk as well as the feedback I get from it after plumbers.
