Several of us at Calxeda have been working on extensions to lava-dispatcher with an eye toward using it as a general test management engine not just for individual platforms, but for whole clusters of machines as well. We've broken our extensions into three feature branches, which can be found at https://code.launchpad.net/~david-schwarz: ssh_qemu_clients: Adds SSH and QEMU clients to lava-dispatcher, along with some infrastructure changes to make running dispatcher actions more independent of client type. We also provide example scripts and configurations for each type of client. result-reporting: Adds the notion of a test_action, which determines and reports test results independently of lava-test. We considered something like this necessary to enable coordinated tests running on groups of machines, because lava-test is necessarily a single platform utility. multi-target: Allows a single instance of lava-dispatcher to run coordinated actions concurrently on an arbitrary number of target machines. For compatibility with upstream, manifest git repository was renamed to git://git.linaro.org/android/platform/manifest.git (previously it was in plural, manifests.git). This is probably the most visible changing, coping with which will require fresh checkout of Linaro Android (unless you're brave enough to edit repo's/git's internal structures and config; in which case you probably know how to do that, there're no instructions and it's not officially supported). To alleviate migration headaches during release time, there's still symlink to make manifests.git work, so you're welcome to schedule re-checkout at your convenience, the link will stay for a couple of weeks. Otherwise, the docs throughout the wiki were updated, and builds are being migrated. https://wiki.linaro.org/Platform/Android/GetSource has complete instructions or checking out Linaro Android. 2. To further facilitate compatibility with upstream, and support Gerrit patch uploading, the Linaro remote in manifests were split in two independent ones, one referring to Android components (having android/ path prefix) and another to any component outside of android/ subtree. This is more transparent change, and it might be picked up by "repo sync". Note that only manifests in "linaro_android_2.3.4" were converted, in particular pinned manifests in "linaro-android-11.07-release" were not. It would be nice if Android team replaced manifests in linaro-android-11.07-release with split ones, but it's up to them to decide if it's worth doing this before 2011.07 release. 3. Gerrit Review server, http://android.git.linaro.org/ were set for linaro-android upstream in the manifests, which together with the changes above will allow to use "repo upload" command to post developers' change for review to Gerrit in seamless manner. Break in gcc-linaro tarball naming conventions, was: Re: Bug 809768 integration into gcc 4.6 for Linaro Android 1107 release

Hello, Well, before proceeding further, there seems that tarball naming convention has changed. For example, now it's gcc-linaro-4.6-2011.07.tar.bz2 whereas before it was gcc-linaro-4.6-2011.06-0.tar.bz2 . What's worse is that inside it's still gcc-linaro-4.6-2011.07-0 top-level directory. The build script uses tarball basename to find out uncompressed dir name, so builds fail now. This can be worked around on build script level, but is example of random inconsistency, and if let such will proliferate, there will be more and more workarounds everywhere, so would be nice if toolchain WG fixed tarball name on their side. The Linaro-3.0 kernel branch is now open

Yes, it is the big 3.0 coming to a Linaro server near you ! The Linux v3.0 based Linaro kernel branch is now available from: http://git.linaro.org/gitweb?p=kernel/linux-linaro-3.0.git;a=summary http://git.linaro.org/git/kernel/linux-linaro-3.0.git Since the official final v3.0 from Linus Torvalds is going to happen in a matter of hours now, and considering that the freeze for the 11.07 kernel release is supposed to take effect this Thursday, this is probably the best time to fork the Linaro-3.0 branch and start merging patches onto it. Currently this contains the following from RMK's devel-stable branch: * The comprehensive ARM kprobes work from Jon (Tixy) Medhurst * The new processor struct macros from Dave Martin * A small part of the single zImage work from myself * The ARM cpu topology definition from Vincent Guittot * Basic Cortex A5 support from Will Deacon & Pawel Moll * DMA infrastructure cleanups from Russell King * A kernel helper to perform 64-bit atomic operations from myself Please let me know if you want to see something merged into the linaro-3.0 tree before Thursday. Hello, I have following scenario: 1. Submitted a change for branch X to Gerrit. 2. In the meantime, I also created a personal branch Y in the same repository for integration testing. 3. Once that branch Y is pushed into Gerrit, the original change (still designated for branch X) is closed as "Merged", with comment added "Change has been successfully pushed into branch Y." For me, this is not expected behavior - the change isn't merged, until it lands into the designated branch, personal development branches and stuff don't count. So, is this expected behavior from Gerrit (2.2.1), does it always work this way, or can it be configured to be branch-strict, and if no, what are recommendations and best practices for manual/automated integration testing of changes?
