Hi,
As discussed at UDS/LDS, there is a very good chance that the next
Linaro release will be based on kernel version 2.6.38.
What that means is that we still have 4-6 weeks to get some code into
various maintainer trees before the 2.6.38 merge window opens in early
January. If you are working on consolidation of some feature across
SoCs, it might be nice to get this code in before then so that we
don't have to backport patches for the release.

Hi,
I would appreciate your input on some kexec related changes.
When restarting using the kernel kexec functionality the MMU needs to be turned off.
Any code which does this needs to use identity mapped addresses to get
reliable results. In the ARM kexec case this identity mapping is done:
- using the page table of the current task
- for all addresses normally used by user space, i.e. 0x00000000-PAGE_OFFSET
If kexec is used at a kernel crash to collect a core dump this means that we lose important information.
This is what these patches do:
* Actually turn off the MMU, which has been omitted by mistake, see this post:
http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/linux-arm-kernel/2010-July/019631.html
* Set up a more selective identity mapping
* Restore the old mapping once the MMU is off
The patch was generated from a linux-next 20101028 with these additional related patches which are in the pipeline:
http://dev.omapzoom.org/?p=santosh/kernel-omap4-base.git;a=commit;h=ae360a7…http://dev.omapzoom.org/?p=santosh/kernel-omap4-base.git;a=commit;h=2fd8658…http://dev.omapzoom.org/?p=santosh/kernel-omap4-base.git;a=commit;h=ae69480…

Hi,
We are nearly there! In 9 days the 10.11 Final image will be released
to the world and in preparation for this the Release Candidate image is
now available. Please download and test as much as possible to ensure
the final release is of the highest quality.
This milestone release is the first to utilise the new build process of
separate hardware packs and generic images. To build a complete image
one hardware pack and one generic image is combined with the
linaro-media-create tool. Please take the time to read the installation
instructions for more information:
http://wiki.linaro.org/Releases/MilestoneBuilds
More Information on this development release as well as download and
installation instructions can be found at:

Linaro Release Manager
Hi,
According to the Linaro release process [1] the maverick-proposed queue
will be frozen tomorrow. After this date no uploads should be accepted
for -proposed until the queue unfreezes on 8th November 2010 without
consultation with the Linaro release team [2]. The total freeze time
will be 12 days.
The freeze process was agreed at the platform sprint in Prague and has
benefits for both Ubuntu and Linaro. This period should be used to flush
the -proposed queue, testing, verifying and promoting to
maverick-updates what is currently there. If you have an update that
really must be added to the queue in the next 12 days please email the
team[3] for feedback.
The Linaro Release Candidate images will be created on the 1st November
and the images will be verified until Final Release on the 10th November.
With your help we can get the -proposed queue flushed and produce
rock-solid Linaro images, carrying the great work Ubuntu has done to more
ARM based platforms.
Regards,
Jamie.

Dear All,
Looks like something is broken in the new kernel ( Post changes to the bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/663642 ), In the
earlier versions of the kernel atleast the S- Video used to work ( tested
in Maveric 2.6.35.6-l5 Regular/Non netbook edition ).
Now If I pass omapfb.mode=tv:pal omapfb.default_disp=tv .. the xorg exits
with with /dev/fb0 no such file or directory ( and ls -l on /dev/fb*
confirms there is no files by that name ),
I tried omapfb.mode=lcd:640x480 ( and other resolutions
), the X server starts but No out put on the screen / LCD tv thorugh S
Video.
The DVI port with default options ( and tried with different resolutions as
well ) connected through HDMI cable to the TV No output on the display in
any Distributions/OS/Kernel I have tried sofar.
I understand that Fixing DVI might take some time because there is a HW
change in Beagel Board XM A3, However I I would really appreciate if some
one point me how to get atleast S Video output till HDMI starts working
again.
Thanks

Miles to go before I sleep...
----------------------------------
Hey all,
If you're like me, you're sitting here at the end of the last session of the
day feeling peckish and wondering what's for dinner.
Which made me realize that there was no information in the Linaro wiki page
about the dinner options here at Linaro@UDS. Sorry about that - let's
correct that now!
Outside of the Wednesday organized dinner, engineers are free to make their
own dinner plans - either here at the hotel, or in town. If you want to
have dinner in town, buses are available each evening to take you back and
forth to one of several points in and around Orlando that are reasonably
central to dining opportunities.
I've posted the bus schedule here:
https://wiki.linaro.org/Events/2010-10-LDS#Evening%20buses
Our local experts have provided us a list of recommended restaurants,
available here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UDS-N?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=List+of+Rest…
Bon appetit,
