Hi,
Ricardo is currently working on
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/linaro-ubuntu/+spec/hwpacks-v2-trasition
targetting 11.09.
This testing may uncover bugs in linaro-image-tools, and completing the transition would mean having a fixed linaro-image-tools released as part of 11.09.
Given that we are two days away and don't have a complete set of tested hwpacks this may not make the release.
Also, there is an implication for our infrastructure, as producing those hwpacks may require setting up new projects on ubuntu-build.linaro.org, or deploying a new version of linaro-image-tools to the slaves (https://wiki.linaro.org/Platform/Infrastructure/NewOffspringBuildToolVersion) which may be another step in getting hwpacks available and tested for the release.
Therefore I request the release team to pay special attention to this interdependence and aid in getting a quality release out the door (without 16 hour working days :-)
That may mean pushing off the transition to 11.10, but I will leave that up to you, Ricardo and Mattias to call based on the results of the testing.
Thanks,
James

I would like to see this happening this month, but I don't want to see new builds for hwpacksv2 being set up during release week in offspring or after RC. That just calls for troubles and we have been through enough pain with offspring in the past releases that we know better.
Ricardo, can we get those hwpackv2 trees and offspring builds setup today? This will give us time to work with james on getting those things sorted before he is on vacation and in time for RC.
Hi,
hwpacksv2 topic has been added to the agenda for the release meeting today.
So far, Ricardo has done some testing locally. If l-i-t is ready, we need: - l-i-t 2011.09 release - update l-i-t on offspring - roll-out some hwpacks builds - testing
or postpone to 11.10.
The actions should start today.
Cheers,
Fathi
